instagram glitch resets suggested content

Instagram’s Latest Glitch Auto-resets Suggested Content, Users See Random Posts

Yesterday, as I was writing about resetting suggested content on Instagram, I had no idea Instagram would do it for all, and at once. A few hours ago, as soon as I opened my Instagram’s Explore section, all I saw were photos of forests, wildlife, beaches, treks, domesticated animals, home decor, and much more. But all of it was random stuff, not the kind of posts I ever engage with!

So, I naturally switched to the official SocialTipsPro’s Instagram handle, and here, too, the entire feed was populated with similar posts. I was both surprised and confused at the same time.

But then it hit me. Could it be a classic case of Instagram being Instagram?

In the past few months, Instagram has been acting weird, banning accounts for no reason, having random downtimes, and removing key features that many of us found helpful.

So, I headed to the Instagram community on Reddit, and there were several users experiencing the same issue. Here’s the first thread I came across:

Upon scrolling down, I came across several other reports of the same issue, all reported within a short span.

So, the obvious conclusion is that there seems to have been a glitch on Instagram that affected content suggestions. It’s not yet clear how many were affected by it, but even a conservative estimate would peg the number in millions. Both my accounts showed signs of it!

Instagram’s glitch has been fixed, content suggestions are not random anymore

Moving to the good news of the day. It seems like the developers have finally addressed and patched the Instagram glitch that reset suggested content. The Explore section and main feed are now showing regular posts, i.e., content you regularly engage with. This has also been confirmed by users worldwide.

Since there has been no official acknowledgement from Instagram’s end, I won’t be speculating what triggered the bug. But it seems like someone messed up big time!

We can only hope that this was the last instance of the issue and future recurrences are curtailed proactively. A social media platform this big should enforce more checks and balances to minimize glitches and bugs that affect the user experience.

Did you too face the same bug? If so, share your experience with our readers in the comments section!
